Message From The Head Of TILabs

TILabs is a new concept to join forces with industry to advance groundbreaking academic research with potential applicability within three to seven years. This concept should gain value from the breakthrough thinking of researchers in academy and the understanding of the practical needs in industry.

Tel Aviv University’s vision includes internationality, multidisciplinary and connections with knowledge-intensive industry and society, thus the Center for Innovation Laboratories will integrate all the components of this vision.

The center brings together experts from a wide range of disciplines with great future potential, who will enrich various dimensions of research from different perspectives, including design, branding and accessibility to diverse audiences. The industrial sector will take on a significant part of the funding of the research in a format that involves “club membership” conferring product development rights. Industry also triggers challenges and research topics that were observed in their future roadmap.

This unique center redefines the interface between academia and industry. The academic freedom to create and innovate on the one hand, and the desire for research that has practical applicability on the other, has led to a center that brings together innovation labs dealing with a variety of topics and actors such as industry, hospitals, and government agencies.

Together with TILabs team, we see this new research methodology became a standard for pushing the excellent academic research to influence the world and make it a better place for all of us.
